Privacy Policy

Our Commitment to Privacy
Memory Loom is designed with privacy as a core principle. We believe your bookmarks, notes, and browsing habits are personal, and they should stay that way.
TL;DR: Your data stays on your device. We don't collect, store, or have access to any of your personal information.
Data Collection
Memory Loom does NOT collect any personal data. All your memories, bookmarks, and notes are stored locally on your device using your browser's built-in IndexedDB storage.
We do not use analytics, tracking pixels, or any third-party services that would collect information about you.
Local Storage
- All data is stored in your browser's IndexedDB—a local database on your computer
- AI processing for semantic search happens entirely on your device using a local model
- No data is sent to external servers for processing
- Your memories are never shared with us or any third party
Google Drive Integration (Optional)
If you choose to enable Google Drive backup:
- Your data is synced to your own Google Drive account
- We only access the app-specific folder created for Memory Loom
- We cannot see, access, or read your other Google Drive files
- You can disconnect Google Drive at any time from settings
- Authentication is handled directly by Google—we never see your Google password
Chrome Extension Permissions
Memory Loom requires certain permissions to function. Here's why we need each one:
| Permission | Why We Need It |
|---|---|
| storage | Store your memories, settings, and cached data locally |
| sidePanel | Display the Memory Loom interface as a side panel |
| activeTab | Access the current page when you click to save a bookmark |
| tabs | Get page title and URL for saved memories |
| scripting | Extract page content for offline reading |
| identity | Google Drive authentication (only if you enable backup) |
| contextMenus | Right-click menu to save text selections |
| clipboardRead | Paste images and content into memories |
| offscreen | Run AI model for semantic search in background |
Data Security
Since your data never leaves your device:
- There are no servers that could be breached
- Your data cannot be subpoenaed from us (we don't have it)
- If you clear your browser data, your memories are permanently deleted (use Google Drive backup if you want to preserve them)
