Organizing Content

  • Use consistent titles - Makes browsing easier

  • Check Related memories - Discover connections between your content

Performance Tips

Frequently Asked Questions

How does semantic search work?
Memory Loom uses an AI model that runs entirely in your browser. It understands the meaning of your search, not just keywords. For example, searching 'authentication methods' will find memories about OAuth, JWT, passwords, login systems, etc.
What are Workspaces?
Workspaces let you organize memories into separate collections. Each workspace has its own memories, completely isolated from others. Create workspaces for Work, Personal, Research, specific projects, or clients. Search only finds memories in the current workspace.
How do I create a Workspace?
Click the workspace dropdown in the header, then 'Manage Workspaces', then '+ New Workspace'. Enter a name, optionally choose an icon and color, then click Create.
Where is my data stored?
All your data is stored locally in your browser using IndexedDB. Nothing is sent to external servers. If you connect Google Drive, your data syncs to YOUR account only - we never have access to it.
Can I access my memories on another device?
Yes! Enable Google Drive backup in settings to sync your memories across devices. Your data is stored in your own Google Drive account and syncs automatically every 5 minutes.
How does the Q&A feature work?
Click the Q&A tab, type your question (e.g., 'What is the API endpoint for users?'), and press Enter. Answers are extracted directly from your memories (not AI-generated). The source memory is shown so you can verify and click to see full context.
What file formats can I upload?
Memory Loom supports Markdown (.md) files imported as-is, PDF (.pdf) with text extraction, and Word (.docx) with text extraction. If Google Drive is connected, original files are kept as attachments.
How do Categories work?
Categories are generated automatically based on your memory content using pattern recognition. Similar memories are grouped together. Categories are workspace-scoped and update dynamically as you add more memories.
Does Memory Loom work offline?
Yes! Once the AI model is loaded (takes ~30 seconds on first use), Memory Loom works completely offline. Your saved pages and search remain available without internet. Changes sync when you're back online.
How do I delete a memory?
Click the Delete button (trash icon) on any memory and confirm. The memory and its attachments are permanently removed. You can also delete entire workspaces from the workspace manager (except the Default workspace).
Is my data private?
100% private. All AI processing happens locally in your browser. We never see, collect, or have access to your bookmarks, notes, or searches. Your data never leaves your device except for optional Google Drive backup to YOUR account.
What gets synced to Google Drive?
All memories (content, titles, URLs), attachments, and all workspaces are included in a single backup. Sync happens automatically every 5 minutes, or you can trigger manual sync from settings.

Troubleshooting

⚠️Extension not loading

Refresh the page, close and reopen the side panel, or check chrome://extensions for errors. Try disabling and re-enabling the extension.

⚠️Search not finding results

The AI model may still be loading (first time takes ~30 seconds). Wait for loading to complete. Also ensure you have saved memories in the current workspace, and try different keywords or natural language phrases.

⚠️Google Drive sync not working

Check your internet connection and verify Google Drive is connected in settings. Try disconnecting and reconnecting, or trigger a manual sync from settings.

⚠️Page content not saving correctly

Some websites block content extraction. Try selecting the specific text you want and using right-click > 'Save to Memory Loom' instead of saving the whole page.

⚠️Memories not appearing after sync

Make sure you're in the correct workspace. Memories are workspace-scoped, so check the workspace dropdown to switch if needed.
